Unofficial is more newb-friendly (has detailed walkthroughs, for example).

That said, official is just better.

the unofficial is formatted so much better, and it is easier to find things.

But as for info, they are both equal.

Use both.

The official has more accurate information when it comes to specific items, some quests, and other small details like that.

The unofficial tends to have better screenshots, armor and weapon dyes, notes, walkthroughs, etc.

Your best bet is to look at both. However, if you plan on being a part of the community, DO NOT join the official wiki. As others have said, it's run by overly dramatic, power-hungry children.

I like the official wiki better as dictionary and as reference, and its layout is more appealing to me.

But since I am german, I always start looking for information in the german wiki. In every german article, there is also a link to the corresponding articles in the official english wiki and the unofficial english wiki. This is an absolutely great feature. If I am not satisfied with the german article, I look into the official english wiki. If that isn't sufficient either, I look into the unofficial wiki.

An outstanding feature in the unofficial wiki is the layout of the "Quick access links" page.
An outstanding feature in the official wiki are the feedback pages and that it's always totally up to date.

Agreed. I don't quite like the official's layout for some reason.

The unofficial one is ugly so I prefer the other.

I couldn't have put it better myself. It's depressing the way the admin run that place and the drama they promote. There's no room for other people with their egos taking up all the space.
